Gerald Levert于1966年7月13日出生在美国俄亥俄州的克利夫兰市。Gerald Levert的父亲是出色的灵魂乐团O'Jays的成员Eddie Levert，因而Gerald Levert自幼就能够接触到最顶尖的灵魂乐和R&B音乐，他也从小就受到了父亲的熏陶，潜移默化的开始了自己的音乐启蒙，而他父亲也打算把他培训成为一名出色的歌手，词曲作者和制作人。由于从小就生活在众多的大牌明星周围，所以一些顶尖的大牌歌手包括James Brown和Marvin Gaye等人带给了他直接的影响，在Gerald Levert长大之后，他和好朋友Marc Gordon以及兄弟Sean组成了灵魂乐三人组Levert，并且通过独立方式发行了单曲，还取得了不错的成绩，那是Gerald Levert第一次真正证明了自己的实力。

　　不久之后，Gerald Levert就得到了Atlantic Records唱片公司的合同，并且以Levert组合一起发行的单曲有多首成为R&B排行榜的冠军，而前十名和前二十名的单曲更是不计其数，此外他还和唱片公司的其他歌手一起录制单曲，并且取得了很好的成绩。1991年，Gerald Levert第一张个人专辑《Private Line》正式发行，成绩非凡，同名单曲也取得冠军的成绩，一年后他和父亲一起合作的单曲《Baby Hold on to Me》再次成为冠军。随后，Gerald Levert和著名制作人David Foster一起合作录制了多首单曲，与之前不同的是，这些单曲不但在R&B榜上成绩傲视群雄，而且还在流行的Billboard 200排行榜上成绩突出，为他赢得了更大的范围更广的支持度，也帮助他进入了最顶尖的R&B男歌星行列。同时，Gerald Levert作为一名出色的词曲作者以及制作人也经常为其他的R&B歌手的专辑录制工作，他的事业进入了真正的辉煌时期。在这段期间，Gerald Levert共发行了两张销量非常惊人的专辑，1995年的《Father and Son》和《Groove On》。

　　1997年，Gerald Levert的辉煌仍旧毫无褪色，他与另外两名实力超群的R&B男歌手Keith Sweat和Johnny Gill一起组成了豪华的重量级R&B三重唱组合——LSG，并且在乐团发行的专辑依旧销量非常辉煌。但是在这期间，他的个人音乐生涯并没有受到任何影响，1998年和1999年，Gerald Levert又发行了他的第四和第五张专辑《Love & Consequences》和《G》，并且取得了相当非凡的成绩，进入新千年以后，Gerald Levert仍然继续着他的辉煌，2001年和2002年的专辑《Gerald's World》和《The G Spot》依旧热卖。2003年10月28日，Gerald Levert的第八张专辑《Stroke of Genius》正式发行。(CatCobain）
